Hathni Kund trek route

The trail starts near Charan Mandir, on the hill road between Nahargarh and Jaigarh. It drops through scrub forest and rocky stream beds for about 2.4 km to the kund – a natural pool fed by a small waterfall when the monsoon is strong. There are a few forks on the way, which is why most people go with someone who knows the trail.

When does Hathni Kund have water?

Only in the monsoon. From July to September, after a good spell of rain, the waterfall flows and the pool fills. In the dry months it is small or empty – try the Nahargarh trek or Garh Ganesh trek instead.

Safety on a monsoon trek

  • Never trek during heavy rain – streams rise fast.
  • Wet rock is slippery; shoes with grip are a must.
  • Don't swim in the kund; depth and rocks are unpredictable.
  • Stay with the group – phone signal is patchy.

Our trek leader checks conditions on the morning and shortens or reschedules the trek if the trail isn't safe.
