About Garh Ganesh temple
The temple was built in the 18th century by Sawai Jai Singh II, around the time Jaipur was founded. Unusually, the idol shows Ganesh ji without a trunk, in his child form (Purushakriti). Devotees believe the temple was placed so the Maharaja could see the deity from the City Palace. Photography inside the sanctum is not allowed.
How to reach and the climb
The steps start near Gaitore / Brahmpuri, on the Jaipur–Amer side of the old city, about 7 km from Jaipur Junction. The path is stepped all the way, with rest spots and great views of Jal Mahal and the city on the way up. Most people reach the top in 30–40 minutes.
Best time to visit
Early morning. The temple usually opens around 7:30 am, so a sunrise climb lets you watch the city light up and reach in time for darshan. Evenings (4–8 pm) are also nice in winter. Wednesdays and Ganesh Chaturthi are the busiest days.
