About the temple

The temple is a big pilgrim centre, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The complex also has temples to Ram ji, Ganesh ji and Gayatri Mata, and community kitchens that serve bhojan on many days.

The hill trek

From the temple, a path climbs the Lakshman Dungri hill to the Vaishno Devi shrine on top. It's a steady, easy climb with views back over the valley and the city. For anyone who'd rather not walk, a ropeway runs to the top – a fun option for elders and kids in your group.

Early morning on a weekday is calm and cool. Tuesdays and Saturdays are crowded but lively. In the monsoon, the valley is at its greenest.
