Overview

Walk the old pilgrim trail of about 2.5 km from Suraj Pol up to the Surya Mandir on the ridge, then down the other side to Galtaji – the 'Monkey Temple' with its sacred kunds set in a gorge. The ridge-top Sun Temple sits about 100 m above the city and gives superb views at sunrise or sunset. An easy trek full of history, temples and (yes) monkeys.

Day-wise Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Suraj Pol – Surya Mandir – Galtaji
    Meet at Suraj Pol, the eastern gate of the walled city. Walk up the stone pilgrim path to Surya Mandir on the ridge for views over Jaipur, then descend to the Galtaji temple complex and its kunds. Maggi, tea and light snacks, then walk back over the ridge. Total time: about 3 hours. Keep food in your bag – the monkeys here are bold.

What is the price of this trek?

₹999 per person for 1–4 people, ₹799 per person for groups of 5–9 and ₹699 per person for groups of 10 or more. The price includes a trek leader, Maggi, tea and light snacks.

How long is the Galtaji trek?

About 2.5 km one way from Suraj Pol to Galtaji over the Surya Mandir ridge. Allow about 3 hours for the round trip with stops.

Is there an entry fee at Galtaji?

Entry to the temple is generally free; a small camera fee may apply. Any fee is paid by trekkers on the spot.

Is transport to the start point included?

No. Trekkers reach the meeting point on their own (scooty, cab or auto). If you need a pickup, tell us while booking and we'll add a cab at extra cost.

Can we book the trek on our own date?

Yes. Treks run on the dates you choose, usually as a sunrise or early-morning batch. Share your date and group size on WhatsApp or the enquiry form to confirm.
